This Year the Net Proceeds of Humour Me Will Support SickKids Foundation
SickKids and the SickKids Centre for Community Mental Health (formerly the Hincks-Dellcrest Centre) provide a fully integrated community-to-hospital continuum of mental health care for children and youth – the first of its kind in Canada. This continuum of care makes SickKids the largest provider of child and youth mental health care in the province, seeing more than 39,000 clinical visits or contacts with patients and families in the most recent year. SickKids is also the only provider capable of delivering comprehensive care for both physical and mental health challenges.
Funds raised through this year’s production of Humour Me will support two vital initiatives at SickKids: The Medical Psychiatry Alliance and the redevelopment of the Mental Health Inpatient Unit. Through these initiatives SickKids will pioneer new integrated models of care that treat mental and physical health needs holistically, improving health outcomes and quality of life for children and youth. And SickKids will increase their capacity to care for patients with acute mental health challenges in an environment that is hopeful and safe, as well as child, youth and family friendly.
