Dear supporters and friends,
We were honoured to be selected as beneficiary for this year’s Humour Me event and I was personally honoured to be chosen as one of the amateur comedians.
Every day Princess Margaret staff and volunteers provide the highest standard of care and support for our patients and continually push the boundaries of innovation and collaboration – this is what has made us one of the top five cancer research centres in the world. Our team is made up of over 3,000 people treating more than 200 different types of cancer. This includes oncologists, nurses, allied health professionals and researchers . . . all working together to conquer cancer. Each year we see almost 18,000 new patients and our goal with each one of them is to provide tomorrow’s treatments today, whether that involves surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy or supportive care. None of this would be possible without philanthropy and the amazing support of our donors.
Proceeds from Humour Me will support some of the cancer centre’s highest funding priorities: our Space Transformation, Guided Therapeutics (including our surgical robotics program) and basic research. Funding for each of these areas will have an impact on patient care – whether it is creating a more therapeutic environment for patients and their families, continuing to be a leader in image-guided minimally-invasive surgical procedures or uncovering new evidence in the role of genetic predisposition to treatment.
Thank you to David Goodman for your passion and enthusiasm – it has been a pleasure getting to know you and your team. I’d also like to thank my fellow contestants: Dr. Jonathan Irish, Nicole Musicco and Jim Nasso. We are extremely grateful to you for taking on this challenge
My final “thank you” is to all of you – everyone who has donated to this event and made an effort to attend the show and be part of the fun.
Thank you all!
